Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

Nada. Used mental chains for the bottom.

key was the 1 in first cell in 12a. added last three at 39 and the cells going down at 38

Aspie: Not sure exactly what you did, so not sure whether this is or is not simpler:

1) Finish the top three rows.

2) The remaining three rows contain six 1's and 2's. Counting downward, the non-orphans contain exactly five of these, so the orphan is a 1 or 2.

Nada. Nice puzzle. If you start by solving G & H, the rest is easy.

Nada, but had to backtrack once. Tough bottom to figure out the 4s, 5s and 6s.

Nada had to use mental chain at the bottom, got lucky on that first time around. Couldn't follow Willo's tips beyond my capabilities

Willo, more or less the same thing.
I think I noted the orphan can’t be 6
One of the 12A has to have a 6 to eat the 39D(6), therefore only two 5’s, and they have to eat the 5x in the long downs, therefore 6D=24, I think is what I meant by counting 5’s.
Then 2x solves a 2.
