Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

Nada. Actually I thought this one was relatively easy. Had to run a couple of possibilities in the lower right to finish.

My conscience didn't allow me to call steps 3 and 4 nada. Or did I miss simpler approach?
1. 1st 10: Solve 6D/11D/T, 458 in 39D, and 49 in 23D.
2. 25D contains 1237 (solves 84 in 25D).
3. A not 2 (E=1 but can't solve 23D). Solve 2 in 25D and all but 7 cells.
4. 14A not 59 (can't solve 17D)

Looking back on what I did the logic broke down early in that B could have been 2 or 3. I guess I just got lucky.

Okay, my solution was same as Don's, with the minor difference that in step 4, I thought of it as ruling out 7/6 (as opposed to 6/7) in 35A. And I realize now that although I counted the orphans, I never used them. I do not think Don should hesitate to count this as a nada.
