Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

5:46 with orphans (would have been much faster with the unique rule, which I continue to forswear).

Good nada. I like the unique rule but didn't need it on this one.

Mike - Regarding your comment yesterday, I was curious if you sense the same 'patterns' on other sites or do they differ by site?

What is a unique rule

Nada approach. Place 8 in B, 9 in H. 6 in 21D has to be in one of the 13A. Therefore, 4 and 7 in 39D are also in one of the 13A. So, O is 6 and T is 5. All comes together after that.

John, the unique rule basically says that each puzzle should have one solution and only one. In this puzzle NO and ST could be 45 or 54. If they were either of those the puzzle would have two solutions. Because they can't be 45/54 it follows that 12A is 1236.

PS. Not everybody buys into the unique rule - see willo above.

Nada
After 89 in 39D
39D has only two cells for 7
21D has only two cells for 6
These cells oppose each other, and where the 6 in 21D requires an opposing 4 in 39D. Which gives a 47 pair in 39D and solves.

Nada is crap. Guesses are involved
Too easy to call nada when you are
Anonymous.

Thanks mark & Aspie, for the hints on the 6s & 47s interaction.

Gloria, per explanations above, no guessing required in this one.

Tried again and got nada with Mark’s and Aspie’s help, but I still had to elongate which was the 7 and 6
