Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

Really narsty. Had to use a couple of chains to solve. Not a pretty puzzle.
free kakuro puzzles | online kakuro puzzles
used a chain on the top row and everything else worked fine.did not need orphans as they did not help
free kakuro puzzles | online kakuro puzzles
no chains once again, just a whole lot of eliminating one possible number at a time. Did use orphans.

used orphans, but no need. very good puzzle. took me well over 10 min (when I stopped the clock and conveniently forgot to restart)

tried again ...
35D has to have an 8, and it must be in 29A or 24A, which gives a magic cross (helpful for 36D)

36D, with a lot of work, comes down to either a 15 or a 24 plus 6789, where the 7s are also in 29A and 24A - magic cross again

and gets lazy and gives up ....

Orphans but no chains. I didn't find any single keystone, just a series of eliminations.

Took me bloody ages! Orphans, chains, you name it.

Chris +1. Almost there. Once you know 24A has to have a 7 and an 8 and that there aren't any 3s, then remaining cells have to be 1, 2, & 6. From there, things fall out. Very nice puzzle with no guessing / chains.

Including orphans and Chris & Karl's hints, thanks, 2019
