Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

quick summary (spoilers of course): After filling in 3 obvious cells, count 6's across and down; this fills in J, 15D and 16A, and A. Now count 9's across and down; this fills in 17D and gives the content (but not yet the order) of 26A. Now can fill in 21D and then 10D, getting 12A along the way, and the rest is easy.

I don't get what Willo says when he says count 6's across and down.in 33 and 34 across a 6 is possible in every cell.in 21 down a 6 is possible in 3 cells.in 30 down a 6 is possible in 3 cells.in 17 down a 6 is possible in 2 cells and in 36 down a 6 is possible in 3 cells.I defenetely miss something cause I don't a positive move after the 3 obvious cells and this even with orphans

Placement of 27 A is the key

John: If you count across, there are at most three 6's (in 33A, 34A and 26A). If you count down, there are at least three 6's (in 21D, 30D and 36D). This tells you that there are exactly three 6's going each way. For the acrosses, this means that 33A and 26A both have 6's. For the down's this means that 10D, 17D, and 15D can't have 6's.

John: I hope my above comment explains the 6's. I fear my reference to 9's is more obscure; it hides some auxiliary thoughts. In penance for the obscurity, here is a detailed solution:

1) Fill in D,G,H.

2) Count 6's across (there are at most three, in 33A, 34A, 26A) and down More...
